Is Air France leaving Orly? What changed in 2026 and where your flight departs now
Since late March 2026, Air France no longer flies from Orly to Nice, Marseille, Toulouse or the French overseas territories. The only routes it still runs from the airport are the four to Corsica. Here is what the airline announced, where each route departs today, how Transavia fits in, which Caribbean flights still use Orly, and what to check if a trip that used to start at Orly now begins at Charles de Gaulle.
ℹ️ Almost gone, with one exception
Look up Air France and Orly today and you will find headlines saying the airline has left the airport for good. That is nearly right. Since the spring of 2026, every Air France flight from Paris leaves from Charles de Gaulle, with a single exception. The four routes to Corsica, serving Ajaccio, Bastia, Calvi and Figari, still depart from Orly 3.
Orly had been Air France’s domestic base for decades, so the old habit is an easy one to keep. If you booked a while ago, or you remember flying Air France to Nice from Orly, check your ticket before you set off. What follows explains what moved, what stayed and what it changes on the day you travel.
⏱️ What Air France decided, and when
The move did not come out of nowhere. In its summer 2026 schedule, published on 26 March 2026, Air France recalled that the plan had been announced in autumn 2023. From the summer season onwards, the airline would run all of its Paris operations from its hub at Charles de Gaulle, apart from flights to and from Corsica, which are covered by a public service contract. Its last departures to the mainland cities left Orly in the final days of March, and on the 29th Transavia opened its own Orly routes to Toulouse, Nice and Marseille.
Air France explains the choice in the same announcement. Bringing everything together at Charles de Gaulle makes international connections easier, and the airline expects it to improve links for the French regions and the overseas territories. It also added frequencies between Charles de Gaulle and Toulouse, Nice and Marseille at the same time.
So ends a long chapter. The company’s own history records its first Paris to New York service taking off from Orly on 1 July 1946, and the whole airline moving its operations there in 1952. Charles de Gaulle became the main hub in 1996, while Orly kept the domestic network and the frequent shuttle flights Air France sold as La Navette.
🗺️ Where your route leaves from now
⭐ Ajaccio, Bastia, Calvi and Figari
For Corsica, nothing changes. Air France still flies these four routes from Orly 3, alongside Air Corsica. The two airlines won the Corsica to Paris-Orly contract together from the Corsican Assembly, and Air Corsica says it runs from 25 March 2024 to 31 December 2027. What happens after that will depend on the next contract.
🚖 Nice, Marseille and Toulouse
Air France now serves these three cities from Charles de Gaulle only. At Orly, the same destinations belong to Transavia, the Air France-KLM group’s low-cost airline, which started on 29 March 2026 with eight flights a day to Toulouse and to Nice and two to Marseille, all from the Orly 3 terminal Transavia flies from. Make sure the airline and the airport on your ticket are the ones you have in mind.
🗺️ Guadeloupe, Martinique, Réunion and French Guiana
Every Air France flight to Pointe-à-Pitre, Fort-de-France, Saint-Denis de la Réunion and Cayenne now uses Charles de Gaulle. Orly has not lost the islands, though. Martinique, Guadeloupe and Réunion are still served from Orly by French bee, Air Caraïbes and Corsair, using the Caribbean and Réunion departures at Orly 4, so a ticket to the French Caribbean can start at either airport depending on the airline.
ℹ️ Every other Air France route
Long-haul, European or North African, any other Air France flight from Paris departs from Charles de Gaulle, where the airline uses terminals 2E, 2F and 2G. Paris Aéroport plans to rename the CDG terminals with plain numbers from 1 to 7 from 16 March 2027, so a booking from spring 2027 onwards may show a terminal name you have never seen.
ℹ️ Transavia and Air France, one group but two airlines
Transavia is part of the Air France group, and Air France now calls it the group’s reference airline at Orly. It remains a separate company, with its own website, its own fares and its own rules for check-in and luggage. On the Paris Aéroport listings, every Transavia flight from Orly uses Orly 3, for well over a hundred destinations.
If you are used to Air France, allow for the differences before you pack. Read the baggage allowance on your Transavia booking instead of assuming it matches an Air France ticket, and look up Transavia’s check-in deadlines at Orly before you plan the drive. 🗺️ When your trip now starts or ends at Charles de Gaulle
For many travellers the real change is on the map. Orly sits below Paris and Charles de Gaulle well above it, and the Air France coach that used to link the two airports stopped running in April 2020. Crossing from one to the other now means rail with at least one change, a long-distance coach on a few set departures, a taxi on the meter, Uber, Bolt or Heetch at a price shown when you order, or a car booked ahead.
Some of the passengers our drivers collect at Orly are not going into Paris at all. They head straight for a hotel near Charles de Gaulle, usually to catch a flight from there the next day. ℹ️ Five checks before you fly
A booking made before spring 2026, or a trip planned from memory, deserves a second look.
- • The airport code on your ticket, ORY for Orly or CDG for Charles de Gaulle
- • The airline that actually operates the flight, which may be Transavia on a route you knew as Air France
- • Your terminal, on the Paris Aéroport website or app a few days before and again on the day
- • The baggage allowance and check-in deadline of that airline, not of the one you flew last time
- • Any transfer or hotel booked near the wrong airport, which is far easier to change a few days ahead than on arrival
🚖 Your driver, whichever airline you fly
For a driver, the name on the tail of the plane changes very little. We follow the flight number you give us, whether it is Transavia, Air Corsica, Air France or any other airline, and a late landing simply keeps the driver waiting, free of charge, until the plane has been down for two hours. The price is fixed at the moment of booking, with journeys between Paris and Orly starting from €59. Part of it goes online as a deposit, and the balance is handed to the driver on arrival, by card or in cash. Bags travel free, up to what the boot of your chosen car will hold.
After your booking, the driver contacts you personally, with their name and number and the model, colour and plate of the car. They wait in the terminal’s professional car park, the Parking Pro, and on request hold a sign with your name in the arrivals hall. Child seats cost nothing, from a rear-facing infant carrier to boosters with a back or without, and we fit them before the pickup. Every driver speaks English.
If your flight has moved to Charles de Gaulle instead of Orly, tell us through the contact form as soon as you find out. A drive to CDG is a different journey, often a much longer one, so it does not carry the fare of the trip you booked. Cancelling costs nothing until 24 hours before the pickup.
